Brussels, 29 April, The Rogier Square double escalator has been installed in the patio.
In 2006 Brussels Region launched an European competition, won by XDGA, for the redesign of the Rogier Square and the metro entrances.
Construction started in 2010 and by mid-2013, the project will be completed.
The escalator will connect the square with the main ticket lobby of the subway station. It is 13 meters high, 28 meters long and weighs around 50 tons. It was produced in Germany and transported in six pieces to Brussels.
The installation took three days and it will be opened to the public, once the patio is finished, in winter 2011.
More information about the Rogier Square is available in the project section.
